The Saraswath Learning Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to education for students in rural areas. During my time volunteering (June 2020 – October 2020), I contributed to the development and design of their main website, helping create a platform that made resources more accessible to underserved communities.

Environmental Volunteering

Environmental Volunteering

I plan to take part in local environmental cleanup events and sustainability initiatives. This includes activities like park cleanups, tree planting, and community recycling drives. My goal is to contribute to creating cleaner and healthier spaces for the community while promoting sustainable practices. One such way I can do this is participating in the Big Event at Texas A&M, which is the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation. I believe there is immense value in direct, community-focused service. The Big Event offers a unique opportunity to step away from the keyboard, work collaboratively with a diverse team, and see the physical impact of a day's work.

Tutoring in Math and Computer Science

Tutoring Math and Computer Science

I hope to volunteer as a tutor, offering assistance at the university math learning center. My goal is to help fellow students navigate challenging foundational courses like calculus, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics, which are extremely important for success in computer science. I want to do more than just help them solve problems for a grade; I hope to use my background in CS to help students understand the connection between abstract theory and its powerful applications. For instance, I look forward to showing how linear algebra is the bedrock of machine learning, or how concepts from discrete math are essential for designing efficient algorithms. By bridging this gap, I aim to help my peers not only succeed in their coursework but also develop a deeper, more intuitive appreciation for the mathematics that drives modern technology.
